Community Dialogues and Barazas – Driving Collective Action

In addition to Shirikisha Jamii, we facilitate Community Dialogues and Barazas—community-centered forums that encourage collective problem-solving and accountability in education and child wellbeing.

While not as structured as Shirikisha Jamii, these forums share its core principle: bringing together parents, teachers, community members, and leaders to openly discuss challenges and generate local solutions.

It is delivered through three core modules:

Community Dialogues

These are small-group conversations that:

Provide space for sharing personal experiences and barriers to education

Address key issues like school dropout, early pregnancies, gender norms, and household responsibilities

Promote feedback collection from community members to inform program improvements

Encourage reflection and practical action within families

Community Barazas

These are larger public forums convened with local leaders, elders, and education stakeholders. They:

Provide a platform for sharing program progress and challenges

Create collective accountability for keeping children, especially girls, in school

Encourage traditional leadership to support education and girls’ empowerment

Serve as feedback loops between the community, schools, and the CBO

Together, these community engagement efforts ensure that change is driven from within, supported by open communication, shared ownership, and sustained dialogue.
