Shirikisha Jamii – Strengthening Parental Engagement
Shirikisha Jamii is a structured parental engagement program supported by GRiC (Grassroots Nest for Innovation and Change), our key funding partner. The program strengthens the role of parents and caregivers in improving learning outcomes through dialogue, self-awareness, and collaborative school-community engagement.
It is delivered through three core modules:
Module 1: Self-Awareness and Understanding the Child
Helping parents understand their own parenting approaches
Understanding the child’s behavior, emotions, and learning needs
Identifying barriers that hinder effective parental involvement
Supporting learning at home using practical, everyday strategies
Module 2: Using Community and Modern Tools for Learning
Tapping into local community strengths to support education
Promoting basic digital literacy for parents and caregivers
Enhancing financial literacy to improve household support for learning
Module 3: Strengthening Stakeholder Collaboration
Encouraging joint efforts between parents and teachers
Building community support for parental involvement
Equipping school leaders with tools for effective engagement with families
This program helps reposition parents as active participants in their children’s learning, improving both school performance and child wellbeing.
